Symbian Foundation

The Symbian Foundation is a non-profit organisation, founded by Nokia, Sony Ericsson, NTT DoCoMo, Texas Instruments, Vodafone, Samsung, ST Ericsson and AT&T. The Symbian Foundation was formed to steward the Symbian platform, which is based on Symbian OS, an operating system for mobile phones that had previously been owned and licensed by Symbian LTD. The role of the foundation is not to develop, but to evangelize, co-ordinate and ensure compatibility.

OVI by Nokia

OVI

Ovi by Nokia is the brand for Nokia's Internet services. The Ovi services can be used from a mobile device, computer (through Nokia Ovi Suite) or via the web. Nokia focuses on five key services areas: Games, Maps, Media, Messaging and Music. Nokia's aim with Ovi is to include 3rd parties, such as operators and third-party services like Yahoo's Flickr photo site.

With the announcement of Ovi Maps Player API, Nokia has started to evolve their services into a platform, enabling GOMOBILE to make use of Nokia's Ovi services.

The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) is an international non-profit industry trade group that represents over 600 agencies, advertisers, hand held device manufacturers, wireless operators and other companies focused on marketing via the mobile channel.

The MMA's aim is to work in a collaborative manner to educate the marketplace and establish industry-wide, national and international best practices and guidelines for mobile marketing.
